About GKCMMA

The Greater Kansas City Medical Managers Association (GKCMMA) is a not-for-profit corporation comprised of Administrators, Managers, Allied Health Professionals, and Business Partners from in and around the Kansas City region. The organization incorporated in October 1980 after a group of eight managers met to discuss networking and sharing information with Kansas City peers. They decided to met monthly at a Westport restaurant to discuss issues and get answers. From these humble beginnings, GKCMMA has grown to more thant 550 members. 

The goal of GKCMMA is to provide networking and continuing educational opportunities for our members, which is in keeping with our mission and vision statements and strategic plan. It is our continual hope that we can grow in our service to the healthcare community of Greater Kansas City.

GKCMMA is affiliated with the National MGMA Organization and MGMA-Missouri State Chapter.  These organizations provide a firm foundation and educational opportunities for members.  Separate membership is required for the national organization and state chapter.

Our committee structure shifts as the needs of our members change. Currently we have active committees to facilitate awarding of scholorships, to coordinate our education conference, to investigate compliance issues, to ensure our salary survey is produced appropriately, to schedule periodic webinars/audio conferences, to develop practicums on current healthcare interest, to schedule monthly meeting programs, to maintain and enhance our website, and to coordinate periodic networking events.

Mission and Goals

MISSION STATEMENT: GKCMMA will provide education and assistance to its membership, fostering collaboration with all stakeholders in the health care system to influence the direction of health care.

VISION STATEMENT: Partnering business excellence with clinical excellence to redirect health care toward the goal of patient advocacy. Enabling members and physicians to be a proactive, empowered force in directing the business of medicine, embracing current technology in pursuit of this vision.

STRATEGIC PLAN: The Board uses a strategic plan that is updated and revised annually to ensure that the association is prepared, empowered, proactive, and successful in meeting the mission and vision of the organization.

Code of Ethics

Certain characteristics of personal conduct are essential to being an effective and productive medical practice executive. As a member of this organization, you agree to represent the profession with honesty and integrity, to participate as an intergral part of the heathcare provider team, to advance your professional growth through education, to defend the confidentiality of the patients, to be a good steward of practice resources, and to conduct yourself in a manner which maintains the highest degree of personal and professional ethics.

New Members

New Member Reserved Table at Monthly Meetings

The first time you attend a monthly meeting, please arrive by 11:00 a.m.  Greeters will direct you to a reserved table for new members where you will sit with several Board members.  They will briefly explain the mission of GKCMMA, list the benefits of membership, and describe the educational opportunities offered by the Association. We want to get to know you too.  A short fun questionnaire will provide some interesting conversation as well. This is a great way to put you at ease, put names with faces, and develop an understanding of what GKCMMA can do for your career.
